MUSIC AND FILM GET A SWEET DEAL.

I know she supposedly ruined Godfather Part III but I've forgiven Sofia Coppola. Lost In Translation would have been enough (isn't there a Yiddish word for that) but then this.

Check out this trailer. She makes a movie about 18th century France and she soundtracks it with Aphex Twin and the Cure. This particular trailer takes Joy Division's "Age of Consent" and wrings it for all it's worth. I didn't realize how much that song galloped until I saw them horses. Sofia has the eye and the ear, my friends.

I love the text too. Reminiscent of Jubilee and all that very odd music/film that came out of Britain in the wake of punk rock. New wave was a movement I've always enjoyed but could never in a million years imagine myself actually making art anything like Jubilee or a Eurythmics album. Layer that on top of the French Revolution and I am at the very least intrigued.
